A trip to the ER

There is a reason that we won't go without insurance for our kids. You never know when you will need to go to the doctors or the ER. They can be fine and the next day need to be right in to the doctors. This last week was a perfect example of that with little Tank.

We went into a follow up appointment for all the kids and Cookie and Tank were fine. Cakes was still sick but the other two were *finally* well. We've been into the doctors almost every week for the last month. Tuesday, Tank started having diarreah, by thursday I called the nurse in our doctors office and she suggested we come right in. So we *sigh* went into the doctors and sure enough, the poor kid was sick again. Antibiotics, here we come. Friday we went and had a really fun family day and that night Tank started puking. And puking, and puking. Saturday night/Sunday morning 3:30am, he puked again. We decided he was starting to look a little dehydrated. So, wonderful Sushi took him in as I had a crazy busy Sunday and I needed a few hours of sleep so I could tackle the day. Sushi arrived home at 7am, went to bed, we got to church an hour late so he could sleep an extra hour, I did singing time in primary, came home. Sushi headed to a meeting he had to be at. Came home. Tried to sleep, gave up because it's nearly impossible to sleep with children awake. I went to choir practice, visiting teaching. Came home. Finished making dinner for my little brother and sisters who were coming. They came, had dinner, and Sushi took Tank back to the ER to see if they will remove the IV or give him more fluids in the IV. I am exhausted. I'm sure I'm not as exhausted as Sushi but my head hurts. Early bedtime for all! And that, my friends, is why you should never, ever, go without insurance for your kids! You never know when you will end up in the ER at 3am. :(

The IV is out, the boy is sleeping soundly. The humidifier is on in his room and as long as he doesn't start coughing too hard, he seems to be alright. I hope I can sleep tonight.

I totally agree with you. I will NEVER go without insurance. It is a huge mistake if you do. I am greatful that I do have it even though it is expensive. I hope he feels better. I spent almost two months at the same doc building for my kids and me. I actually can say I hate going there. lol
