I can't find my Daddy

Cakes (who has been at her Grandparent's house since sunday) said to her grandpa today, "I can't find my Daddy, will you be my Daddy?". Grandpa said sure he could and she proceeded to tell her all the things they could do together if he was her Daddy. I love what goes through kids minds! We pick the kids up tomorrow and we have missed them so we are excited to get them tomorrow. The kids are excited to sleep in their beds they told us. Forget about seeing us, it's just their beds they miss! J/k I know they love us and miss us as much as we miss them.

A few of my favorite things

Tonight we drove up to meet Hoosergirl and truckindude. Great fun. One of my favorite things to do is meet new people. We had a great time. In fact I think we may have stayed a little late because we were having fun! Hopefully they got enough sleep. I hope I can wake up and accomplish all I need to tomorrow! But it was great fun and much worth it.

How prissy are you

Another quiz, I love these things, makes for an easy post! This is courtesy of hoosergirl5

You Are Not Prissy

You're the furthest thing from a princess - and you probably stay far away from any princess types you know.

You have an easygoing approach to living. It doesn't take a lot to make you happy.

And when life requires it, you're ready to get your hand a little dirty.

There's no problem you're too prissy to tackle!

House quiz

I got this from Teri's blog. Lucky you, I took the test and here are my results.

What the House Test Says About You

You consider yourself important, but no more important than anyone else. You love attention, but you don't feel like you deserve more of it than anyone else.

You aren't against being community oriented, but it's not really your thing. You tend to prefer to focus on your family and not the neighborhood around you.

You are creative, expressive, and bright. You are always in the middle of some amazing project.

You take good care of your physical appearance. You dress well, stay in shape, and do your best to look great.

You are moved by the most simple of things. You can find pleasure from a small, perfect moment.

WOW, a week to myself

I went up to my parents last night for a family party. My kids surprised me by saying they wanted to stay at grandma's house. We didn't have extra clothes for them or anything. But after checking schedules and such, it looks like I have until Saturday morning without kids. I'm a little stunned. I keep thinking wow, when I clean my house it will stay clean, how 'bout that. I can accomplish so much while they're gone. Sushi will have a normal week with school and work but I will get to take a nap when I feel like it. huh, what a thought. Today I went shopping for some summer maternity shirts and found some as well as a new swimming suit. My old one was getting worn out in the butt. Why is it that they always wear out in the butt???? The rest of the suit is fine, the butt is starting to get a little thin. And trust me you don't want to see that. I also went to the local thrift shop (The Deseret Industries or DI for those of you not here in Utah!) and found a maternity top for $4.00, a bassinnett for $5.00, a baby saucer for $3.00 and an aquarium that is lizard ready for cookie for $5.00. Not too shabby. Plus I was able to find a sno cone machine and flavorings. The kids will be thrilled. So, here's to me and a whole week to myself. I think I'm going to enjoy it for about two days, then I'll really be missing them.

I don't know why she swallowed the fly. . . perhaps she'll die

house work 1

I feel a bit like the old lady who swallowed the fly. . . I don't know why. I am currently trying to psych myself out enough to clean the house before the horde of men descend on it tonight for game night. I know it will be dirty within an hour or so after they get here but I guess I feel like if I don't have a clean house it reflects on me. Besides it really is in need of a good cleaning. It is one of the things I have had to let go a little bit with being pregnant this time around. I am just so stinkin' tired all the time. I make it to the gym each day and I'm proud of myself for that but that pretty much sucks up all my energy for the day. I guess if I can get it clean after they all leave I should only have a little bit of clutter to clean up and some vacuuming to do. Or mabey. . . I should just let sushi and his friends clean up after themselves.

Happy Father's Day

Tomorrow is Father's Day as you all know. We had a good day today with Sushiboy. The kids got up early and I had to be somewhere early this morning but sushi got to sleep in until cookie told him he needed to get up. Then we went yardsale shopping for a wagon because holy crap! A new one is so expensive. After that we came home for a little over an hour and I made some brownies for someone in my church. Then we went and saw Kung Fu Panda and went to get sushi for sushiboy. Now everyone is home and chillin' and tomorrow will be a nice day too. We have a few presents lined up to give to him and all the kids will be singing in church for their Dads and I may make a roast for dinner. The crappy part about all this is that tomorrow evening we need to go to a viewing for a funeral for a family friend's brother. A weird day to have a viewing for a man but whatever, it isn't me who made the arrangements. Anyhow, back to father's day. I am so glad to have sushi in my life. He works so hard and goes to school and makes it possible for me to stay at home with the kids and accomplish a lot of what I do. Thank's sushi! You are a great daddy and husband and we appreciate all you do for us.

goin' phishing and why we have health insurance

UGH!!! I hate it when blogger decides not to publish, I guess I'll write my story again. I think I got my first phishing email. It was from the IRS. Lucky us! We get another 900.00!!!! Don't worry, I didn't push any buttons on the email. I looked up the email address for the IRS for phishing scams and forwarded it to them. I know our government isn't that generous.

In other news, I thought I might explain why we will never be without health insurance. Every once in a while I hear about some young couple who decides that since they hardly ever get sick they will skip the health insurance to save money. That usually changes really fast as soon as child number one comes along. This story is a prime example of one of those reasons. Friday night I was sitting upstairs cooking dinner when I hear this horrible scream. Thinking that (as usual) one of the kids is harrassing the other I yell down the stairs "what is going on down there". Cookie screams up at me "I hurt myself". I told him to come here and I would see what was going on. He starts walking up the stairs and there is blood all over his hands. I of course get him up to me asap and put a towel on it. I try to figure out what happened because his head is gushing blood and just keep hearing "I hurt myself". Sushi grabbed a pantyliner and some gauze and put that on the wound and I hop in the car to take cookie to the instacare. On the way to the instacare cookie keeps wanting to fall asleep. I get to the instacare and as soon as they hear he keeps wanting to fall asleep, they tell me to go to the emergency room. They're afraid he will need a CT scan and that he has a concussion. So, rather than go to our insurance's prefered hospital (that will have us waiting for 6-8 hours) I go to another hospital in the area that will get him right in. Sure enough, he was right in and thankfully, no concussion, no CT scan. They did however put three staples in his head. We were going to go to the instacare after dinner because cookie had been complaining about his ear so I had them check that out while we were there. Sure enough, he also had an ear infection. The upside of this is that now I no longer have to explain why I don't want him standing on my exercise ball and the hospital got him right in and we didn't have to wait all night. The downside is that since this is not a prefered hospital we will probably have a few hundred dollars we will have to pay out of our pocket. But, I'm glad my boy is alright. And that my friends, is why we will never go without health insurance while we have kids. I couldn't get any pictures of the staples because cookie was embarrassed but I did get a picture of his shirt with the awesome blood spatter. Thankfully, we were able to get all the blood out, that is one of cookie's favorite outfits and it would have been sad to have to toss it.

Body image and baby

The other day I was horrified to hear my sweet perfect three year old saying "my cheeks are too big, they need to be smaller". HOLY CRAP!! I know and am very aware (as are all women) of the pressures of society on women and how we "should" look. But here is my beautiful baby girl having body issues. I love, love, love her cheeks. They are adorable and perfect for a three year old little girl. After I picked my jaw up off the floor I proceeded to tell her I thought they were perfect and she looked just the way she should. Sushi, upon hearing this pointed out that all little girls her age have cheeks like that. Even the ones in her barbie movies. I wonder if the barbie movies aren't half the problem here. Even though barbie is more in proportion now than in the past she is still a little rediculous. Anyhow, after about two or three days of reassurance she seems to be over it. WHEW, I'm sure there will be many other discussions like this down the road but I just didn't expect this at three years old.

I had my second doctors appointment yesterday and we were able to hear the baby's heatbeat. That is always cool. It really put my mind at ease. I always worry until I hear a strong, healthy heartbeat. This baby seems to be very active. The midwife was practicaly having to chase the baby around to hear it. Another sign of a healthy, strong baby. 13 weeks down, 27 to go.

Movie Reviews

I know you have all been eagerly anticipating my movie reviews. I have a few to review, Sushi and cookie went camping with our church this last weekend and so I got a few redbox and there have also been a few I've seen in the theatres. So, here goes, starting with the one I know you have been waiting the most for

Barbie as the Island Princess- I let cakes pick a movie and this (surprise!) is the one she chose. It was a huge hit with cakes. I think she watched it about 5 times in an evening and the afternoon of the next day. It's basically barbie as tarzan, she gets shipwrecked on an island and can talk to animals, a prince rescues her from the island and they end up married. A real original plot but great for a 3 year old little girl.

The Forbidden Kingdom- I actually really liked this one. I took sushi because I knew he wanted to see it and I enjoyed myself! It was great, really fun, it didn't have ten minute long fight sequences, it had a plot that was fun, the characters actually grew and changed by the end of the movie. Well done.

Juno- One of my choices that I kept hearing great things about. While I didn't appreciate how crude it was sometimes and I didn't love the teenage swearing I think this was so well done. I think this captured all the emotions involved in teenage pregnancy as well as adoption. Having had a very small glimpse of infertility I could completely understand where the adoptive mother was coming from and I was so proud of Juno for making the hard choice to carry and do what was best for her baby. I loved the family dynamics of Juno's family and even though they were far from perfect they loved and supported each other so well. Sushi even liked this one. This one had me laughing and crying throughout the show. Highly recommend this movie.

Stardust- If you are a fantasy fan you will like this one. It involves a wall that separates two dimensions and what happens when their worlds cross. It was fun, you do need to be into fantasy to enjoy this though, otherwise I think you'll just think it's another stupid fanatasy show.

Indiana Jones and the crystal skull- SO FUN, you must be a fan of Indiana Jones though, it's pretty much more Indiana Jones. Nothing really plausable and far from the truth but just fun. If you don't like the original Indiana Jones you won't like this one. However, if you are a fan you will love this.

Well, that pretty much sums it up. Let me know whether you agree or disagree with my reviews. I still need to post pics of the new furniture that Uncle Sam paid for. Mabey tomorrow. Today the family is all getting new shoes. All our shoes have holes in them. I guess it's time.
