Movie Reviews

I know you have all been eagerly anticipating my movie reviews. I have a few to review, Sushi and cookie went camping with our church this last weekend and so I got a few redbox and there have also been a few I've seen in the theatres. So, here goes, starting with the one I know you have been waiting the most for

Barbie as the Island Princess- I let cakes pick a movie and this (surprise!) is the one she chose. It was a huge hit with cakes. I think she watched it about 5 times in an evening and the afternoon of the next day. It's basically barbie as tarzan, she gets shipwrecked on an island and can talk to animals, a prince rescues her from the island and they end up married. A real original plot but great for a 3 year old little girl.

The Forbidden Kingdom- I actually really liked this one. I took sushi because I knew he wanted to see it and I enjoyed myself! It was great, really fun, it didn't have ten minute long fight sequences, it had a plot that was fun, the characters actually grew and changed by the end of the movie. Well done.

Juno- One of my choices that I kept hearing great things about. While I didn't appreciate how crude it was sometimes and I didn't love the teenage swearing I think this was so well done. I think this captured all the emotions involved in teenage pregnancy as well as adoption. Having had a very small glimpse of infertility I could completely understand where the adoptive mother was coming from and I was so proud of Juno for making the hard choice to carry and do what was best for her baby. I loved the family dynamics of Juno's family and even though they were far from perfect they loved and supported each other so well. Sushi even liked this one. This one had me laughing and crying throughout the show. Highly recommend this movie.

Stardust- If you are a fantasy fan you will like this one. It involves a wall that separates two dimensions and what happens when their worlds cross. It was fun, you do need to be into fantasy to enjoy this though, otherwise I think you'll just think it's another stupid fanatasy show.

Indiana Jones and the crystal skull- SO FUN, you must be a fan of Indiana Jones though, it's pretty much more Indiana Jones. Nothing really plausable and far from the truth but just fun. If you don't like the original Indiana Jones you won't like this one. However, if you are a fan you will love this.

Well, that pretty much sums it up. Let me know whether you agree or disagree with my reviews. I still need to post pics of the new furniture that Uncle Sam paid for. Mabey tomorrow. Today the family is all getting new shoes. All our shoes have holes in them. I guess it's time.

I keep hearing great reviews of Juno. I may have to break down and watch it. It's on pay per view, but we just don't seem to find time to see it.

Juno I probably won't see. Indiana Jones I will watch when G man is out of town...he is not much of a fan of that type of movie. He prefers silly comic movies....Borat.....movies like that...I don't but he does...we usually see action movies together. Bourne Identity....
anything with Jason Statham in it or the Rock rough and tumble is what I like....

Do your kids like Milo and Otis? mine loved it when they were about 5 and 6....

nobody- I was a little surprised at how much I liked it

cheer- it is hard to find movies you agree on. I haven't tried Milo and Otis with the kids. Cookie seems to really dig pretty much anything on PBS that has to do with reading right now and cakes is the typical girl who loves all things princess.

cheer- I ment movies that both you and your spouse could agree on. Sorry, that wasn't very clear.

I can't stay awake through a movie, but may have to get the Barbie one for my granddaughter's birthday this coming weekend!

Does your PBS Station show "Between The Lions"? It's a great reading show, and I was very disappointed when they stopped making new episodes, thanks to our politicians cutting funding to CPB.

Tug- I'm sure she'll love it

Mel- it was really fun, very indiana Jones.

nobody- one of his favorites. He says he likes it because it is teaching him how to read. He also likes word world and reading rainbow.

I love Between The Lions, especially Cliff Hanger. Good stuff.

I've never watched Word World, though I do know it's carried by our PBS.
